🚨 Signal Threatens to Leave the EU — The Fight for Digital Privacy Heats Up!
Signal Foundation president Meredith Whittaker has made it clear: the Signal app will leave the European Union if the proposed Chat Control law is approved. 💬❌

📜 The regulation, first introduced in 2022, would require all communication platforms — even end-to-end encrypted ones like Signal — to scan every message, photo, and video before it’s sent, in order to detect “abusive” or “illegal” material.

💣 In simple terms: “Chat Control” means no message would remain private. Your device would effectively become a surveillance tool — every chat, every photo, every file analyzed by government-mandated filters or AI algorithms before delivery.

Whittaker stated:

“Under the guise of protecting children, these proposals open the door to mass surveillance for all. They would expose even the most sensitive communications — from government officials and military personnel to journalists and activists.”

💡 More than 40 European tech companies, including CryptPad, Element, and Tuta, have signed an open letter opposing the measure, warning that it would mark the end of private communication across Europe.

🇩🇪 Meanwhile, German officials have announced they will vote against the proposal, suggesting that it may not gain enough support to pass.

📢 This debate isn’t just about technology — it’s about freedom, dignity, and the right to privacy. If passed, the law would set a dangerous precedent: no conversation, on any platform, would ever be truly safe again.

🔒 Signal remains steadfast in its mission to defend privacy. Because without privacy, there is no freedom.
