How to read your bank card

How to read your bank card:
Both debit and credit cards carry a range of numbers, codes, and dates that serve different purposes. While they may seem confusing at first glance, each detail has a role in securing transactions and identifying your account.
1. MII/IIN/BIN: The first digits of the long card number indicate the card network and issuing bank (e.g., 4 for Visa, 5 for Mastercard).

2. Account Identifier: The remaining digits are unique to your account.

3. Expiry & Issue Dates: Mark the validity of your card and when it was issued.

4. CVV: The 3-digit security code on the back, used for online and phone payments.

5. Contactless Logo: Shows that your card supports tap-and-go payments.

6. Payment Network Logo: Identifies whether it’s Visa, Mastercard, etc.

Knowing what these numbers and symbols mean can help with online purchases, account queries, and fraud protection.
